My brother grows dahlias and occasionally they insist on sitting for a portrait. I love all of them, and there’s something about the simple ones. They remind me of zinnias, one of my favorite garden flowers due to their simple unaffected way. For this character, I laid the paint down hot pink and brimming in the brilliant green of life.
