The fog-enshrouded ravines along the northern California coast are home to many such families of coastal redwoods who stand tall for thousands of years. In our noisy high-speed world, I love this tree as a symbol of strength, long-term thinking, and deep silence. Thank you, Redwood, for letting me paint your portrait. To reflect the solemnity and serenity of these giants, this powerful statement piece is less impasto than most landscapes and leans toward the on-canvas blended style that I usually reserve for roses.
