Along a windswept section of 17-Mile-Drive in Carmel lies Ghost Tree, a beach named for the tattered bones of long-dead cypress trees that whistle in the wind. It feels especially mysterious when fog is covering all but the restless turquoise edge of the sea. I used brushes drenched in muted yet glowing colors to recreate this magical mysterious beach.
