I came across this ancestral oak tree alone in a vast field of grasses in the North Table Mountain Eco Preserve, the bones of her other half keeping company nearby. I strove to capture the grandeur and dignity of this ancient duo standing their holy ground in the evening sun, as they have done each day for perhaps 300 years. It was humbling to spend time with them, to really see them. I used rich color and lots of movement and texture to create a painting worthy of these heroes.
This painting arrives ready to hang on a 1½-inch wrapped canvas with hand-painted edge.
