My obsession with hollyhocks continues. The epitome of “flower power”, each hollyhock stalk reaches 6-10 feet high with stunning blooms all the way up. This is my biggest painting yet in my impressionistic impasto style. Fun fact: I had the canvas custom made to the exact maximum dimensions of my Prius cargo space! Creating this painting coincided with 14 consecutive days of drenching rain (we never complain about rain in California), which was the perfect timing to chase away the gray. I laid the paint down in thick generous brushwork using a palette of summer itself. Enjoy the sunshine!
