This title is a nod to the counterculture novel by Richard Brautigan that I read three times in senior year of high school, mostly during calculus. I understood little of it — who did? — but I loved it because it was so weird and also very sexy. When I finished this gentle dissolving rose, I thought of Brautigan’s world where people “travel to the length of their dreams and lead gentle lives in watermelon sugar.”
