Lyle Lake

Lyle Lake, Colorado — At 11,000 feet and almost above tree line, glacier-carved Lyle Lake in the Holy Cross Wilderness Area, is at the top of the world. I visited in the fall, and the white rocks and golden grasses were a stunning contrast to the blue sky and water. The billowing clouds added another dimension. Brushstrokes alive with movement translate the dynamic grandeur.
