Mt. Figueroa in the San Rafael Mountains north of Santa Barbara was covered in poppies this spring. The peak, being quite treeless, looked like an orange triangle rising above the ascending hillsides of poppies, lupine and newly-budded oaks. I was lucky to be there during the height of the bloom, which I depicted here using bold brushstrokes and abstract blocks of color. This painting is done on a 1.5″ gallery-wrap canvas and arrives ready to hang.
