Underneath a scintillating blue sky, Mt. Shasta presides over Lake Hammond, a favorite bird sanctuary to the west flanked by marsh grasses and Shasta Daisies. Using textured brushwork and generous paint, I sought to capture a rare pastoral scene at the foot of this mammoth volcano, crown jewel of the Cascades.
