River Sundown

The exquisite light of sundown on the Sacramento River. I camped on this island beach on a kayak trip and was bowled over by the private world the river creates. Private, yet also infinite, and also emotional. That’s a river for you. Add sunset colors and a red wisteria bush arching over the water and it was pure magic. For this petite painting, I used thick impressionistic brushstrokes to capture the complex mood.
