When you paddle a mature river curling through the valley it created, nothing else exists. All you can see is the river itself and the lush life along its banks: a running motif of tangled vegetation, carved bluffs, graded boulders, birds and wildlife in undisturbed commerce, cane and flowers leaning over the silent current. This impressionistic painting of the Sacramento River was inspired by a three-day kayak trip in the vicinity of Chico, which, per my point, we slipped past without noticing. I used emotive brushstrokes rich in texture and movement to depict this private and awe-inspiring artery of life.
This painting arrives ready to hang on a 1½-inch wrapped canvas with hand-painted edge.
