Summer sunsets over Shasta Bally Mountain in NorCal are spectacular. I was nearing completion of this painting when the Carr Fire spread through much of the forest at the base of this mountain and forced evacuation of my studio. Only recently did I bring the canvas out of storage to complete it. This stylized view is from the bluffs on the east side of the Sacramento River, with a little peek of the river showing, and is laid down in long energetic strokes using lots of paint to capture the emotional intensity of this solar crescendo. The oil painting is done on a 1.5” deep gallery-wrapped canvas and arrives ready to hang.
