Shooting Stars, the terrestrial variety and my favorite wildflower of childhood. These assertive little flowers command attention with their sharp black point and magenta petals. They are depicted here amid lush spring grasses and newly-budded oaks using thick brushstrokes. Shooting stars grow only in North America and NE Siberia. This variety is found in the woods south of Mt. Shasta in Northern California and this painting is inspired by spring hikes in this area. The painting is done on a 1.5-inch wrapped canvas and arrives ready to hang.
