This path on Table Rock near Medford, Oregon, sweeps through a sea of last year’s yellowed grasses, rimmed with a hint of spring, on its way to the abrupt edge of 200 vertical feet of columnar basalt. I loved the windswept feeling of vastness, melancholy, and wonder combined. Using both earthy and ethereal colors laid down in rich brushstrokes, I recreated this aching landscape.
