Glen Ellen, CA — In California wine country, winter is the first spring, the rains bringing green back to the land. In this scene from Sonoma Valley Regional Park, February’s thick grasses are captured in rich brushstrokes, the new growth on the native oaks glowing a rosy pink against the blue Mayacamas Mountains. I’m utterly grateful I was able to memorialize this view from Cougar Trail because just months later, the Tubbs Fire burned this beautiful park completely.
